Scalp Micropigmentation is essentially tattooing of the scalp
Hi, I am Zena and I have been an aesthetic practitioner for over 8 years, tattooing for 3 years, as well as a designer for 22 years.
I have always been fascinated (and excited!) with any new technology that helps with anti-aging and making yourself feel better about yourself.
I understand that hair loss can be mentally dabilitating and really knock one’s confidence. Every case to me is a challenge and I strive for perfection to put that smile back on every client’s face.
In a nutshell, the treatment is great for:
This will depend on your pain threshold. Clients have described it as ore “annoying”. A scratchy feeling that makes your nose tingle and you are likely to sneeze! If you have a low pain threshold then I would recommend taking some Ibuprofen or Paracetomol about 30 minutes before your treatment.
The initial consultation will take about 30-45 minutes.
Most clients need at least 3 sessions and each session time will vary depending on head size and how the ink has taken to the scalp on previous sessions. On average, each session lasts about 3 hours.
The results will vary from person to person and depends on lifestyle, skin types and how your body generally deals with the ink. It will be permanent in that there will always be some residual ink in the skin but it will fade as does any tattoo over time. Some clients who want to keep it fresh looking will come back for a top up perhaps every 3 years, but you can play it by ear.
Keep your scalp well moisturised in the days leading up to your first treatment. Dry skin on the scalp can cause the ink to not sit in the skin as it should and results can be affected. This is also true of oily skin – the oil can push the ink out. Basically just try to keep your scalp healthy as much as you can and not oily or dry.
Absolutely! I was trained by the best at Scalpology and received a Certificate of Excellence in this field. All Scalpologists should have had hardcore training to know what they are doing with regards to both technique (for a natural look) and also sterilisation procedures to avoid cross-contamination. Believe me when I say to avoid anyone without proper training and an eye for design. There is a huge difference between a good result and a botch job with this treatment! I have a Professional Indemnity Insurance Policy with Beazley – Salon Safe.
No, not at all – you may have some slight redness but hardly noticeable. You will be given after care instructions to get the best result from your SMP treatment.
Normal pricing depends on the amount of hair loss and the size of the area to be covered. This ranges anywhere from £400 – £2500 before any discount has been applied.
